Bed And Breakfast Resorts On Oahu

Oahu Bed And Breakfast

I truly enjoy traveling and when I travel I try to find locations where I can enjoy my favorite sport which is good for diving and snorkeling. I have been many places in the world including Florida, the Caribbean, and my favorite location which is Hawaii. Lately, I’ve been staying away from the big resorts and have been staying at bed-and-breakfast inns. When you stay at a smaller hotel or inn, you meet much more interesting people, and you can usually get some great information from the owners. Recently, I stayed at an Oahu bed and breakfast which was beautiful and close to the beach.

Oahu, is also known as the big Island of Hawaii. To the south, you will find the big city of Honolulu which is where most tourists stay. However, I prefer the west coast of Oahu which is the leeward side. Here the winds are generally less in the waters are calmer. There are many great locations for snorkeling and scuba diving here. However before I make the trek all the way out to the coast, I prefer to do some shopping in Honolulu. In Honolulu, there are many dive shops where I can usually find sales all used equipment including tanks, regulators, and all kinds of diving accessories. I can also pick up a gift or two.

To find some great reviews about places to stay in Oahu and the many different Oahu bed and breakfasts, I usually like to read reviews on line. My favorite website is trip advisor where people who actually stayed at different resorts hotels and locations write about their experiences there. This can be very helpful when you’re trying to find a place to stay as it is unbiased, and generally, very timely. You can usually find a review from someone who is recently stayed at any location you are considering.

Here is an excerpt from a recent review of an Oahu bed and breakfast:

"They are great hostesses and we loved our trip. We were visiting Oahu for a friend's wedding and were looking for a way to save money, enjoy Honolulu, and get away from the Waikiki madness. J & B's Haven is a wonderful, wonderful place to stay if you're looked to stay out of downtown Honolulu. We were no more than 15 minutes away from where we needed to be, and it was great to stay in a quiet residential neighborhood instead of a large towering hotel or resort. The personal attention we received was unmatched.

Breakfasts were wonderful. LOTS of fresh fruit and they made sure I had plenty of coffee to drink every morning. They really do their best to make sure each guest feels welcome and at home during their stay. Joan and Barbara were quiet accomodating when it came to our arrival time and check in. They made sure we were able to access our room despite arriving on Christmas Day.

Their knowledge of the area and the island is fantastic. Their tips on where to get dinner away from the downtown madness were fantastic, and their tips on when to visit tourist attractions like Pearl Harbor were amazing--we saved plenty of time and we never would have gotten advice like that from a guide book.

Overall, the rooms were clean and the bathrooms were well-kept. The property is lovely and the bed was so comfortable. Our hostesses made us feel welcome and we'd definitely stay again."

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling in Akumal, Mexico

By Macon Gravlee
When traveling to Akumal Mexico one nearly passes this small quiet village by without realizing that it is actually one of the Caribbean coast's best locations for diving and snorkeling on the Yucatan Peninsula. Akumal is located a mere 65 miles to the south of the Cancun resort area and 50 miles from the Mexican airport. It may be small but it is the ideal vacation get away for families or divers who wish to escape the daily rush of Mexico's often crowded beaches.
